I asked my boyfriend Brian where he wanted to eat for his birthday. His immediate reply was Red Lobster because of their latest Lobsterfest TV commercial.
Thus, on Sunday, February 24th, we went to Red Lobster near Oak View Mall for a late lunch. The advertised “mouthwatering lobster entrees” available for a limited time lured us in but failed to deliver in taste…
We were seated immediately. The service was friendly, but both our appetizer and main entrees took awhile to arrive. Our waiter apologized for the wait.
We started out with Red Lobster’s trademark, complementary cheddar bay biscuits, followed by an appetizer.
Cheddar Bay Biscuits
- Description: Unlimited cheddar biscuits
- Price: Complimentary
- FoodMe YUM Rating: 9 out of 10

I go “mmm” each time I have their warm biscuits. Crunchy textured outside, soft inside, and scrumptious cheddar throughout. Of course, we asked for another round.
Lobster-Crab-and-Seafood-Stuffed Mushrooms
- Description: Fresh mushrooms stuffed with seafood, smothered in Monterey Jack cheese and baked golden brown.
- Price: $8.50
- FoodMe YUM Rating: 6 out of 10
- FoodMe Value Rating: 6 out of 10
The stuffed mushrooms appetizer was very cheesy and buttery like escargot. I wished there were bigger pieces of lobster.
Our main entrees came with a choice of salad. We both had the caesar salad.
Side Classic Caesar Salad
- Description: Romaine lettuce, croutons, and shaved Parmesan cheese.
- Price: Complimentary with entree
- FoodMe YUM Rating: 5.5 out of 10

It was an okay salad.
For the main entrees, Brian ordered the Lobster Lover’s Dream and I ordered the Bar Harbor Lobster Bake.
Lobster Lover’s Dream
- Description: Rock lobster tail and sweet split Maine lobster tail, roasted and served with lobster and shrimp linguini alfredo with a choice of side.
- Price: $29.99
- FoodMe YUM Rating: 6.5 out of 10
- FoodMe Value Rating: 5 out of 10
The Maine lobster was nice and sweet. The rock lobster tail was slightly dry. The pasta was average. Brian’s choice of side was the lobster mashed potatoes. I didn’t taste any lobster in the mashed potatoes. Overall, this dish was okay but not worth the price.
Bar Harbor Lobster Bake
- Description: A roasted split Maine lobster tail, tender shrimp, sea scallops, mussels, and linguini in a garlic and white wine broth.
- Price: $24.99
- FoodMe YUM Rating: 6 out of 10
- FoodMe Value Rating: 5 out of 10
This lobster dish had some flaws as well. The lobster was too salty, the mussels were too dry, and the scallops were too bland. I expect more for the price.
Aside from the cheddar bay biscuits, the dishes were disappointing and overpriced. The Lobsterfest specials looks good but falls short in taste.
